Geolocation data is derived from the IP block’s registry assignment and traceroute patterns — it’s an approximation, not a GPS lookup. Mobile carriers, VPNs, and CDNs frequently route traffic far from where the user actually is, so a city-level reading can be tens of kilometres off.
